Mr. Daniel C. May, 83, passed away April 14th, at his residence. His daughter, Danielle was at his side as he passed peacefully.
A celebration of life will be held privately. In honor of Dan’s love for slot machines, Danielle’s family will be taking a special trip to the casino to celebrate his memory in true Dan fashion.
Dan was born February 9th, 1942, in Maspeth, Queens New York, the son of Charles May and Beatrice Pitera May. Later in life, he moved to Long Island, NY.
He shared many years of marriage with Joann Chubre May and family life, cherishing the memories they created together before going their separate paths.
Dan worked as an Arborist for many years and drove Taxi. After moving to Cape Vincent permanently in the early 2000’s, he owned and operated Dan’s Place, an antique shop, ‘talking turkey’ for over 20 years. Dan was the kind of man you couldn’t ignore—whether you loved him, argued with him, or both, you always knew where he stood.
He loved Scottish Terriers, having owned many of them throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling, casinos, Woodman’s Field Days in Boonville, drinking beer, and going on many cruises around the Caribbean and other parts of the world with his daughter, Danielle. Dan especially loved spending time with his grandkids – contributing to their work ethic they have today.
Surviving are two daughters, Danielle (Richie) Anchor, and Jilleen May (Dave Frazier), four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren: Daniel Anchor (Kristin), parents of Easton,
Victoria Anchor (Brian Grafstein)parents of Penelope and Josie, Ashley Anchor (Theodore Ebbing) and Angela Stevenson (Ivan), parents of Leon and Lucan.
His family and Scottish Terrier (Scotso) will miss him dearly.
