Mrs. Terry D. Timmerman Bognanno, 75, went to heaven to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, at the Samaritan Keep Home with her loving sister Billie by her side.
Terry was born in Watertown on January 10th, 1950, the daughter of Richard D. Timmerman and Harriett Bell Kendall Timmerman. She lived most of her life in Clayton, graduating from Clayton Central School in 1967. She received an associate degree from Jefferson Community College in 1969 in Secretarial Science.
Terry worked for Xerox Corporation in Rochester. She was a valued employee and worked her way up the ladder from Secretary to Analyst, when in 1994 she had to retire due to illness.
She married Michael Matty, from Clayton, in July 1972. The marriage ended in divorce.
On September 25, 1992, she married Joseph M. Bognanno, and they spent 27 years together, until his death. They enjoyed traveling in the United States as well as a trip to Italy and Sicily with Joe’s sister, brothers, and their spouses.
Terry’s passion was painting, both attending craft fairs with her close friend Amber Coleman and painting murals, and later teaching classes at her home in Canandaigua. She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Terry and Joe moved to Winterhaven, Florida, where they lived for seven years. After Joe’s death she moved back to Fairport and then to Omar to be close to her sister.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clayton, and a current member of the River Community Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Meredith Matty Smith (Clair); a stepdaughter, Stephanie Bognanno Labarge (David) of Bristol, NY; three stepsons, Joseph Bognanno (Laura) of Beunos Aires, Argentina, Martin Bognanno (Kate) of Canandaigua, and Dr. Andrew Bognanno and wife Dr. Gina of Nashville, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, Lauren, Sophi, and Hollie Labarge, Joe Bognanno, Leo & Nicho Bognanno, Gianluca & Chiara Bognanno, and Ronan & Kendall Smith; a sister, Billie Lawrence and her husband Larry of Omar; and a beloved nephew, Derrick Lawrence and his wife Jessica of Burlington, Vermont.
There will be a Celebration of Life at River Community Church later, at a time to be announced. All are welcome.
Donations in her memory can be made to River Community Church, Bartlett Point Road, Clayton, N.Y. 13624, or the SPCA, Water Street, Watertown, N.Y. 13601.
