
Mr. Chris E. Haas, 76, passed away on May 13, 2026, following a long illness.
Chris was born on January 5, 1950, to Keith and Elizabeth Haas. He left Depauville, N.Y., to follow his passion for construction work. He eventually landed in Alaska in 1975. Chris intended to stay in Alaska for just three months, but he became enchanted with all that Alaska had to offer. He resided in Alaska for 47 years. He assumed ownership of Consolidated Contracting and Engineering and led the company to prosperity. Chris sold the business in 2017. He then purchased a new home in Pheonix, Arizona. Meaningful relationships were made while in Alaska. Chris had a generous heart and an outgoing personality.
Chris married his longtime friend, Cheryl Delaney, in April of 2004. They enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their beautiful RV and experiencing life together. Many summers were spent in Upstate New York, spending time with family. He was often referred to as a favorite uncle.
Chris is predeceased by his parents, older brother, John Haas, he is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his sister, Keitha Haas, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, stepdaughter, stepson, step grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Chris’ honor on Sunday, June 21, at the Depauville Methodist Church at 1:00pm. A reception will be held starting at 3:00pm at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel in Clayton.

Keitha I am so sorry for your loss. Chris was a very important part of my life when we were young. We reconnected again in Alaska several years later, not knowing that each other lived there. I have very fond memories of him. He and my brother were great friends.
