
Steven J. Dano, 63, passed away Friday, June 12, at the emergency room at Samaritan.
Steve was born May 29, 1963, in Watertown, the son of James and Adelaide Kalk Dano. He graduated from General Brown High School in 1981.
He served in the United States Navy from June 26, 1981, until June 25, 1985 as a Boiler Technician on the USS Koontz Nuclear Missile Destroyer. He was deployed to the coast of Granada during the hostage crisis.
Steve was awarded the Good Conduct Award, Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Accommodation, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
He retired as a custodian at Thousand Islands High School after 30 years.
Steve enjoyed deer hunting, reloading, riding ATV’s, fishing, shooting, family reunions and gatherings, and playing cards.
He was a past member of the NRA.
Surviving is four brothers, Michael and Colleen (Ross) Dano of Watertown, Edward Dano of Mississippi, Ronald Dano of Watertown, and James (Susan McKeever) Dano of Watertown; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a date to be announced.
