
Mrs. Georgianna Kormondy, 83, passed away December 29 at her home. Services will be held in the Spring at time and date to be announced.
Georgianna was born October 8, 1942, in Peekskill, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Jamison Conklin. She graduated from Peekskill High School.
On May 28, 1976, she married John Kormondy in Beacon, New York. John passed away in 2022.
Georgianna worked in various capacities in local restaurants in the area, including the former Harbor Inn, Sunnybanks, and the Paynter Senior Citizen Center.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge 297. She enjoyed baking, watching the New York Yankees, and Alabama College Football.
Surviving are five children, three sons, Peter Merritt of Clayton, Jay (Marsha) Kormondy of LaFargeville, Fred (Norah) Merritt of Poughkeepsie, and two daughters, Benita Merritt of Brockville, Ontario, and Kelley (Chris) Smith of Kentucky; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband John, she is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, all from down state, and four grandchildren, Joshua, Jaden, Danielle, and Lauren Olivia.
Donations can be made in her name to the Paynter Senior Center, 914 Strawberry Lane, Clayton, New York, 13624.
