The funeral for Mrs. Barbara A. Wootton, age 80, will be at 11am Friday at the Omar United Methodist Church with Reverend Edgar Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Omar Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4-7pm on Thursday at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
Barbara was born June 2nd, 1932 in Omar, the daughter of Clifford and Ruth Mitchell Schryver. She graduated as Salutatorian of LaFargeville High School. In 1954, she graduated as a Registered Nurse from the House of the Good Samaritan nursing program. On September 11th, 1954, she married Carol Wootton at the Omar Methodist Church. Mr. Wootton died in 2004.
She worked as a Registered Nurse at the House of the Good Samaritan for many years, where she was also was a charge nurse and supervisor. She also worked at an adult nursing home, retiring in the mid 1990’s. Barbara assisted her husband in farming and they also owned and operated the Hook, Line and Sinker Store near the 1000 Islands Bridge.
As a long time member of the Omar Methodist Church, she was also a member of the HGS Alumni Association. Barbara enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening.
Surviving is one son and his wife, Steven and Mary Wootton of Walworth NY; two daughters and their husbands, Debbie (Patrick) Gibson of Omar and Sherry (Gary) Millard of Glenfield; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Sheila Schryver of Tennessee; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Robert.
Donations may be made in her name to the Omar-Fishers Landing United Methodist Church.
