Mr. George E. Dion, age 84, of County Route 15 in LaFargeville, died Sunday morning at the home of his son Steve, where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1pm at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. A calling hour will be from Noon until the time of the service.
George was born August 26, 1929, in Salem, Mass., the son of Hector and Alice Dion. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Salem.
He married the former Helen Kos, September 3, 1950 in Salem.
George retired from Hamblet and Hayes Chemical Plant in Salem.
He enjoyed going to his summer cottage in Southern Maine. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling and playing horseshoes.
He is survived by his wife Helen; two sons, Stephen and his fiancé Sylvia VanVenVoet of LaFargeville and Gary (Leda) of Lynn, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Ten brothers and sisters died before him.
