Mrs. Beatrice E. Steele, 92, County Rt. 13, died Saturday at her home, where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
There will be a Graveside Committal Service, Wednesday, May 24th, at 11am, at Omar Cemetery.
Beatrice was born May 24th, 1924, in the Town of Orleans, the daughter of Zion and Carrie VanBrocklin Fitchette.
She graduated from Clayton High School in 1942.
On April 6th, 1949, she married George Steele at her parents home. Mr. Steele died in 2001.
She helped her husband with farming for years, and drove school bus for LaFargeville School, retiring in 1986.
Beatrice enjoyed sewing and was a former member of the LaFargeville Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Cary (Sheila) of LaFargeville, and Patrick of LaFargeville, and his children’s mother, Bobbi-Jo, of Herman; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Six brothers died before her, Tom, James, Richard, Eugene, Gerald, and Marquis. Also six sisters, Persis Wilkie, Pearl Shoulette, Bertha Bauter, Ruby Robbins, Ellen Kirkby, and Josephine Fisk, died before her.
Arrangements are with the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
