Mrs. Susanne E. Engle, 77, of Rock Beach Road, died Sunday, April 7th, at her residence.
Her Funeral will be held, Wednesday, April 17th, at 5pm, at Omar Methodist Church, with Reverend Connie Gushlaw officiating.
Susanne was born October 1st, 1941, in Syracuse, the daughter of James Eric and Evlyn Rich Smith. She was 1959 graduate of Solvay High School where she was Valedictorian. Then she graduated Cum Lauda from Syracuse University in 1963, receiving her bachelor’s degrees in Fine Arts and English.
Susanne worked as an artist her entire life. For a time she owned and operated the Phoenix Advertising Agency in Skaneateles, and was Assistant Jewelry Artist for Sara Coventry Company in the Rochester area.
In 1989, she married Thomas Engle, at the Marietta Christian Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Cape Vincent Artist Society.
Being very religious, Susanne preached in many area Methodist Churches from time to time.
Surviving besides her husband Tom; are two sons, Eric Miller of North Carolina and Jeffrey Miller of Watertown; six step-children, including Lloyd (Betty) Engle of Harrisville; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Linda Springstead of Indiana.
Donations can be made in her name to the Omar United Methodist Church.
