Gail A. Darou, 75, of Clayton, formerly Depauville, passed away on June 8th, at the Hospice of Jefferson County. Calling hours will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, June 11th, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. The Funeral will be held at 11am, with Reverend D.L. Marshall officiating. Burial will be held in the Depauville Cemetery.
Gail was born November 3rd, 1943, in Alexandria Bay, the daughter of G. Harold and Nathalie Garnsey Russell. She attended Alexandria Bay Schools.
On October 27th, 1962, she married Lonnie Darou, at the Reformed Church of the Thousand Isles with Reverend Adrian C. Gray officiating. Lonnie passed away on October 2nd, 2005 at age 66.
In her younger years, Gail was a waitress in the summer at various restaurants in Alexandria Bay. She then worked at Bomax Manufacturing, which became Gould Pumps, retiring after 20 years. She and her husband then operated a bottle redemption center on State Street for a short time.
She was a member of the Depauville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Gail enjoyed bowling, which she held many offices in the league, crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting, loved the St. Lawrence River, watching Nascar, and was totally engaged in the history England, especially following the Royal Family, as well as watching English soccer games.
Surviving are one son Timothy (Janet) of Mannsville; three daughters, Laurie (Richard) Sigouin of Orlando, Florida, Samantha Cross of Cadyville, N.Y., Jean (Michael) Badour of Clayton; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Murlyn Cumber of Bridgeport, and Marion House of West Carthage, died before her.
Donations can be made in her name to the Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street Road, Watertown, N.Y. 13601.
