Wanda L. Winters, 72, of Seaway Avenue, passed away January 22nd, at Samaritan Medical Center, where she had been a patient since December 13th. There will be no Calling Hours or Funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life at a time and place to be announced in Alexandria Bay in the Spring.
Wanda was born February 22nd, 1947, in Canastota, the daughter of Howard and Madeline Fadigan Winters. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1966.
A marriage to Charles Boggs in 1966 ended in divorce.
Wanda worked as a chef in the Jefferson County area. Notably the former Benny’s Restaurant in Watertown, and different restaurants in Alexandria Bay.
She started the original 1000 Islands Psychic and Holistic Fair in Alexandria Bay 17 years ago, and also organized the Mystical Journey Psychic and Holistic Fair in Canton every year.
Wanda was a Master Instructor and practitioner of integrated energy therapy and reiki.
Surviving is her daughter Terri (Scott) VanAlstyn of Omar; one grandson, Ty; three sisters, Carol (David) Crockett of Texas; Kathryn Winters of Florida, and Patricia (Don) Carney of Indiana; nieces and nephews who are David and Dawn Crockett, Ryan and Chad Carney, and Brianna Winters; best friends A.B. Mosher of Alexandria Bay and Barbara Thomas of Florida.
Donations can be made in her name to the Food Pantry in Alexandria Bay or NINJA’S, which is Ninja’s Against Animal Cruelty of Northern New York in Watertown.
Arrangements are with the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
