Mr. John F. Kormondy, 82, of Clayton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, April 19th, at the Samaritan Medical Center.
There will be a Celebration of Life on May 14th, at the American Legion Klock-Smith Post 1788, from Noon until 4pm.
John was born October 18th, 1939, in Beacon, N.Y., the son of John and Alfreda Smith Kormondy. He attended Elementary school in Beacon, and graduated from a Military High School.
On May 28th, 1978, he married the former Georgianna Conklin in Beacon.
John served in the United States Navy, entering in 1958, and was honorably discharged in 1962.
John was a truck driver most of his life, amongst working at Frinks, Gilco, and Gaileys.
He was a member a of the LaFargeville Klock-Smith Post 1788 American Legion, and a member of the Alexandria Bay Masonic Lodge.
John enjoyed bowling, fishing, deer hunting, and making furniture. He was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees, Alabama College Football Team, and the N.Y. Giants.
Surviving besides his wife are six children, Fred (Norah) Merritt of Poughkeepsie, Peter Merritt of Clayton, Jay (Marsha) Kormondy of LaFargeville, Benita Merritt (Adam) of Brockville, Ontario, Kelley (Chris) Smith of Texas, and Leeann (Craig) Defee of Alabama; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Four grandchildren, Joshua, Lauren, Jaden, and Danielle, died before him.
