Mr. Voigt W. Recor, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 11th, at the Samaritan Medical Center. There will be a private Graveside Service at Grove Cemetery in LaFargeville at the family’s convenience. A Celebration of Life will be held at the LaFargeville American Legion Klock-Smith Post on May 21st, from 1 until 4pm.
Voigt was born March 5th, 1940, in Watertown, the son of Howard and Florence O’donnell Recor. He graduated from Clayton Central School.
On March 5th, 1960, he married the former Joan Perry in Alexandria Bay with Reverend Little officiating.
Voigt worked for a time at Dry Hill, Crowley Foods, and retired from the New York State Department of Transportation in 1996. He was also a lifelong Homestead Farmer.
He was a member of the Omar/Fishers Landing Methodist Church.
Voigt enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and was an avid River Rat boater. But most importantly he enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife Joan, are two sons, Joseph (Virginia) and their son Jason of Theresa, Jeffrey and his companion Lynn Phelps, and his kids Gabbie, Meg, and Britt; four daughters, Joanne (Peter) Radley and her children, Jessica (Ty), Jason (Amber), and Jamie, Jane (Robert) Heyman and their children, Britt (Kyle), Bob (April0, Julie (Jay) Knapp, and their children, Jay (Kim), and Hannah, and Jennifer Rhone and her companion Michael Laclair, and her children, Joan (Scott), Chey (Mitch), and Mia (Shane); grandchildren, from his son John who passed away previously, Johnna (Shaun), Dereck, Jacob (Terra); 29 great grandchildren; one brother Hank of Homer, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
One son, John, passed away in 2000, four brothers Earl, Corky, Bob, Larry, and also three sisters, Pat Higgins, Renee Conant, and Gert Wells, passed away before him.
Donations can be made to the Omar/Fishers Landing United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are with the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
