
Mrs. Bonnie C. Small, 81, passed away June 24th, at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, where she resided the past three years. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June29th, from 2-4pm, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. The funeral will be at 11am on Monday, June 30th, at Fineview Methodist Church on Wellesley Island with Reverend Karri Weldon officiating. A burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Bonnie was born on November 28th, 1943, on Wellesley Island, the daughter of Andrew and Janette Williams Slate. She graduated from LaFargeville High School and Watertown School of Commerce.
A marriage to Michael Small at Wellesley Island ended.
Bonnie went to work at Yazzell’s Dairy Bar and later opened the Rondette Restaurant which she operated for 38 years. She also worked for New York State Correction in Cape Vincent, retiring in 2003.
For many years, Bonnie, and her friend Patricia Higgins, catered many events for Joe Rich of the Disabled Persons Action Organization, her favorite show was catering in Clayton for Johnny Cash, and also for the Bridge Authority, She was a former member of the Alexandria Bay Senior Citizens, Fineview Methodist Church, a member of the Riverside Cemetery board for five years, and was a first woman Fire Chief in New York State. She enjoyed her trips to the casinos.
She is survived by her son, Mike of Vermont, and cousins.
