Mr. David I. Brown Sr., age 58, of Clayton, died Monday at his residence where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Calling hours will be Friday, July 26, from 10am-12 at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home. A gravesite committal service will be at the Clayton Cemetery following calling hours. A reception will follow at the Clayton Fire Department.
Dave was born June 27, 1955 in Alexandria Bay, the son of John and Carol Matthews Brown. He attended Clayton Schools.
On April 26, 1975, he married the former Jean Slate with Justice of Peace Harry Cornell officiating. He worked for many years for Kellogg and Merciers Marinas as a fiberglass technician.
Dave enjoyed working on boat motors, country music and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife Jean is one daughter and her husband, Rebecca (Robin) Brant of Ontario, Canada; three sons, David Jr. of Clayton, Ernest Sr. and his companion Barbara of Cape Vincent and John and his wife Jennifer of Clayton; 10 grandchildren; four brothers, Andy and Richard of Clayton, Victor of Cape Vincent and Billy and his Fiancé Lisa Solar of Alexandria Bay; two sisters, LouAnn and her companion Mead Bishop, and Susan and her companion Danny Gushlaw all of Clayton; two brother in laws and a sister in law, Les Sanford of Cape Vincent, Kenneth & Misty Partridge of Clayton; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Two sisters, Cindy Brown and Vicky Sanford, died before him.
Donations can be made in his name to the Three Mile Bay Fire Department Ambulance Fund.
