The Memorial Service for Mrs. Dawn L. Gault, age 62, of Cape Vincent, will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11am at the Cape Vincent United Church with Reverend Mark Pierce, Pastor officiating. Following the service there will be “Dawn’s Beach Party” Celebration of Life at the Cape Vincent American Legion.
Dawn died Saturday, Jan 18, at Upstate Medical University after fighting a courageous 4 ½ year battle of Multiple Myeloma, where she was surrounded always by her family.
Dawn was born January 27, 1951, in Rochester, the daughter of Donald and Ann McDonald Fudge.
She married Gary Gault, April 24, 1971.
Dawn was a waitress for many years while her children were growing up. She was Assistant Manager at one time at Fashion Bug and also was Manager of Payless Shoe Store in Watertown where she was recognized, out of 27 area Store Managers, as best performance and sales of the year Manager.
In 2007, Dawn returned to working in Schools after 13 years in retail as CSE Secretary at Lyme Central School until being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2009.
Dawn was past President of the Cape Vincent Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a Past Matron and member of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed shopping, knitting and doing various crafts and was known for making her Cancer Awareness jewelry. Most importantly she loved going on vacation and visiting with her sister in Virginia Beach.
Surviving besides her husband Gary, is her mother Ann Fudge of Rochester; two daughters; Carrie Anne (Mark) Smith of Cape Vincent, Angela (Angie) Gault of Watertown; one son Gregory (Carrie Lynn) Gault of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Smith of Cape Vincent and Zoey Gault of Pennsylvania; a sister, Gayle Fudge of Virginia; two half-brothers, Scott (Skip) Fudge and Jay McDonald; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Dawn’s name to the International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Drive, Suite 206, North Hollywood, California 91607.

Gary and family, We are so sorry for your loss, our thoughts and prayers are with you. I will never forget Dawn coming into Aubreys on Sunday mornings after church, and no matter what kind of day, week or month she had had, she was always happy, positive, smiling, joking and never feeling sorry for herself. She will truly be an inspiration to everyone on how to make the most of everyday you have left and continue to live everyday to the fullest. I’m sure you are very proud of her, for a lot of things but one thing for sure is that she fought the battle like a true lady. Dawn was lucky to have the love and support of all her family, and I’m sure she is still here, and will NOW help YOU get through these difficult days that all of YOU will be facing. Again, I’m so sorry! Debby

Dear Gary, Angie and family, On behalf of the Lyme Central Relay for Life team, we extend our sincere condolences on the passing of Dawn. She was such a lovely lady. I personally will always remember her positive nature and her persistence to remain happy and caring in spite of the hardships she faced. She truly embodied “sunshine.” I am glad that I was able to get to know her a bit and work with her for a little while at Lyme. I hope you all can take comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace, with no suffering any more, and that one day, you will all be together again – sharing in a great family reunion! In the meantime, we will continue the fight to beat cancer in Dawn’s memory. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Lin Towne

Dear Gault Family,
I am so saddened to hear of your loss. Dawn was my manager at Payless almost 1o years ago. She was a great person and leader. She was always kind, patient and she was never too busy to offer a helping hand or word of encouragement. Her smile and positive outlook were infectious and even though I only knew her for a short time she left a lasting imprint.
