The memorial service for Mr. Joseph (Joe) A. Gokey, will be Sunday July 13th at 2pm, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton with Donna Fitchette officiating. Calling hours will be from Noon until 2, preceding the funeral.
Joe passed away June 29th at Kansas City University Hospital.
He was born February 26, 1957 in Watertown, the son of the late James F. and June R. Vanderwerken Gokey. He attended Clayton Central School and went on to serve from October 1975 until September of 1980 in the United States Marine Corps.
Over the years, Joe worked many construction jobs.
Joe loved fishing, NASCAR, football and his grand children. He spent a lot of time with his friends who he called them all “Mick.”
Surviving is his life long companion, Carolyn Webb of Kansas City and her three children, Misty Loder of Missouri, Julie Bellamy of Missouri and Lance Gibson of Kansas City; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, James (Sarah) and David (Carol) all of Clayton; three sisters, Linda Orvis and her companion Bill Babel of Clayton, Lisa Gokey of Clayton and Donna (John) Timmerman of LaFargeville; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is pre-deceased by one sister, Mary Kuglur, and two brothers’, Gary and Donald.
Donations can be made in his name to the Hospice of Jefferson County or the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
