Mr. Paul J. Link, age 80, of NYS Route 180, died Monday, July 28th, at his residence, where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Calling hours are 5-8pm at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home on Thursday, July 31st, and there will a Funeral Mass at Noon on Friday, Aug 1st, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Arthur LaBaff officiating.
Paul was born June 10, 1934, in Gouverneur, the son Everett and Edna Chase Link. He graduated from Heuvelton High School.
Paul served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1957, where he was trained in radio operations.
On August 22, 1955 he married the former Patricia Garnsey, with Father George Racette officiating.
After he was honorably discharged, he went to work as a letter carrier in Del Ray Beach Florida, until becoming disabled in 1974. He then went to school and worked for a number of years doing upholstery until he retired in 2012.
He was a member of the Clayton American Legion Colon Couch Post 821, a member at one time of the Knights of Columbus in Florida, and he was a volunteer firefighter in Florida for 15 years.
Paul really enjoyed talking, fishing, gardening and his cars. He was always working and seemed to especially enjoy his grandkids.
Surviving besides his wife Patricia are 3 sons, Paul Jr. and Scott of Omar, and, Stephen (Diana) of LaFargeville; 2 daughters, Jane Link and her companion Kathy Kraski of Colorado, and Valerie (Brandon) LaClair of Stone Mills; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bernard (Niki) of MA, and Richard (Rose) of Texas; 3 sisters, Eleanor (Harold) Chambers of Heuvelton, Mary (Charles) Ames of Watertown, and Theresa (Larry) Crow of Heuvelton; nieces and nephews.
