Mr. Roderick A. Collette, age 83, died Tuesday, at his home, where he was under the care of his close friends and Hospice of Jefferson County. As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
Rod was born, July 1, 1931, in Watertown, the son of Peter and Alice Layo Collette. He did his schooling in Sandy Creek.
He married the former Barbara Blackmer, who pre-deceased him.
Rod was a chef for many years, retiring in 1994, at a number of area restaurants, some of which were, the Half Way Chalet, Pine Tree Point, and the Music Box.
He loved target shooting and fishing.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy of Oregon, and Jill of Watertown; one step-son, Michael Lovette of Ohio; two sisters, Barbara Pomerville, and Helen Collette, both of Watertown; nieces and nephews.
One brother died before him.
Donations can be made in his name to the LaFargeville Volunteer Fire Department, or Hospice of Jefferson County.
