Mrs. Shirley G. Doney, age 81, died Wednesday at her residence. The Funeral will be at 3pm on Saturday, April 23rd, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. Calling hours will be from 1pm until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
A reception will follow the burial at the Clayton Fire Department.
Shirley was born January 10, 1935, in the Town of Alexandria, the daughter of John and Pearl Snell Hogan. She graduated from Watertown High School.
On November 15, 1953, she married Harold Doney at the Clayton United Methodist Church with Reverend Solomon A. Card officiating.
She retired from the N.Y.S.D.O.T. as a stenographer in 1984.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, sun tanning, cooking, and going to the casinos, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband Harold is one daughter, Dierdra (Gene) Sorrell of Clayton; two sons and their wives, Mark (Lisa) and Harold Rip (Michelle), all of Clayton; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Murial (Bill) Palmer of Evans Mills; nieces and nephews.
One daughter, Cynthia Singer, one grandson, Jeffrey, four brothers, Frank, John, Keith, and Henry, two sisters, Ilienia Ingerson, and Evelyn Crump, all died before her.

So sorry for your loss, although I haven’t spoken with Mrs. (Shirley) Doney for awhile it was always interesting hearing her point of view and sharing in her sense of humor. Growing up she was that second mother to us kids in the area. From myself and my family the deepest sympathy and heart felt condolences during these difficult times. I will be out of town on the 23th sorry.
