John F. (Jack) Hooper died peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2016, in Ormond Beach, Florida. Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Hooper, his son, Bill Hooper, of Yardley, PA, and his son Ben Hooper and daughter-in-law Victoria Ko of Lancaster, PA. Jack was born in Oswego, NY on May 11, 1945. He was the Salutatorian of his high school class. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Oswego State University in 1967, where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. In August of that year, he married Judy, also an Oswego State University graduate. They settled in Endicott, NY, where Jack began a career as a computer programmer. Jack was a very active parent—he was a Scoutmaster and he coached his sons’ youth baseball teams. Jack saw himself as a naturalist; he loved to hunt and fish, as well as sailing and a host of other outdoor pursuits. He also enjoyed photography, spectator sports and reading. Jack had a preternatural ability to speak to people from all walks of life. He spent much of his life in the Thousand Islands, where he was well known by neighbors to “love the river.” A memorial service will be held at T.R. Jetty funeral home in Clayton, New York at 11:00 am on July 23, 2016, with calling hours from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
