Mr. George (Ike) E. Ashbocker, age 89, of Ford St., died Tuesday at his residence where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Calling hours will be 2-4pm on Saturday, July 23rd, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. A Funeral Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home with Reverend Bob Bausum officiating.
George was born October 11th, 1926, in the Town of Pamelia, the son of George L. and Elizabeth Edwards Ashbocker. He attended area schools.
On November 17th, 1972, he married the former Idabell Clement with Judge H. Lee Gill officiating.
A previous marriage to Ruth Briggs ended in divorce.
George worked for a time at Timmerman Turkey Farm. He also was a Truck Driver for Crowley’s. In 1991, he retired from the NYS Department of Transportation after 25 years.
He was a member of the LaFargeville Fire Department.
George enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, playing cards, stock car racing, and especially his family get-togethers.
He is survived by his wife Idabell; one daughter, Elizabeth (George) Mullikin of Redwood; one son James (Patti) Ashbocker of Redwood; four step-children, Bonnie (Larry) Davis of LaFargeville, Junita (Kenny) Noone of Philadelphia NY, Tim (Nora) Bresett of LaFargeville, and Donnie (Tina) Bresett of Evans Mills; 14 grandkids; 18 great grandkids; and cousins.
One son, George R. Ashbocker, and one daughter Barbara Ann Ashbocker, died before him.
Donations can be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County or the LaFargeville Volunteer Fire Department.
