The memorial service for Phyllis A. Lowe will be private. Mrs. Lowe of 120 State St. Clayton, NY died February 26, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. She was 77.
Mrs. Lowe was born August 15, 1939 in Theresa, NY the daughter Frank and Mary A. Van Alstyne Larkin. She graduated from Clayton Central School and later would earn her nurses degree from the Watertown School of Nursing.
She married Ernest Lowe on August 24, 1959 in Clayton, NY with the Rev. Fred I. Williams officiating. Mr. Lowe died February 19, 2013.
She worked as a nurse at E. J. Noble Hospital in Alexandria Bay, NY. She also worked as a waitress for several restaurants including McCormick’s, the Rondette in Clayton, and she also worked in the cafeteria of the Thousand Islands Central School.
Mrs. Lowe was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary Post 821 and was a past member of the Clayton Fire Dept. Auxiliary, which is a family tradition.
She enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, spending quality time with her grandchildren and her great grandson. Mrs. Lowe was a gifted writer of poems in which many of her writings were used on the Clayton Fire Dept. float in the Clayton Christmas parade.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law Ray and Tracy Lowe of Clayton, her three grandchildren Courtney Lowe of Jacksonville, FL, Daniel Lowe of Clayton and Tiffany Lowe of Watertown, NY. She is also survived by her only great grandson Noah Lowe of Clayton, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Clayton Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
