Sandra Jean Dano (Weaver), 78, of Clayton, NY, passed away on March 19th, 2025, after a nearly two-year battle with cancer.
Born on December 20, 1947, in the Town of Lyme, she was the daughter of DeElton Weaver and Pauline Allen.
On June 13th, 1967, she married Wayne Dano at Cape Vincent United Methodist Church with Reverend Oliver Barker officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Dano on June 16th, 2010 at age 67; her brother, Fenton Weaver; and her sister, Beverly Dunn.
Sandra is survived by her children, Bruce Dano (Tona) and Penny Mack (Robert); her grandchildren, Stephen Dano (Isabella), Joseph Mack, and John Mack; and one great-grandchild, Dayton Dano Rodriguez. She is also survived by her siblings, Vesta Smith, Dawn Grant, Marvin Weaver (Edith), and Allen Weaver (Carol), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandra had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as hunting, snowmobiling, and archery. She was a skilled archer, winning numerous trophies over the years in competitions.
Her faith was a guiding force in her life. While living in Cape Vincent, she was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in church events, including coordinating the church’s hamburger and hot dog stand during the French Festival.
One of her greatest joys was playing bingo with her sister Dawn at Turning Stone Casino, Three Mile Bay, and St. Anthony’s Church in Watertown. The two shared an inseparable bond, enjoying games, cards, and countless cherished moments together, whether at family gatherings or simple picnics on the farm.
Sandra deeply valued family and treasured holiday gatherings, where she loved playing games, putting together puzzles, and catching up with loved ones. She instilled in her family a strong sense of unity and dedication, always ensuring everyone felt cared for. She played a vital role in organizing the Annual Dano Family Reunion, making sure everyone felt welcome and contributing delicious dishes for all to enjoy.
She dedicated many years of service at Samaritan Medical Center and Samaritan Keep Home, working in the kitchen to provide for the dietary needs of staff and residents. She was also a talented cake baker, creating everything from birthday cakes to elaborate wedding cakes, ensuring each one was special.
Sandra will be remembered for her boundless kindness and generosity. She had an open heart, always ready to help anyone in need, and her warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on May 17th, 2025 at 1130 at Three Mile Bay Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Black River American Legion immediately following the service.
