Mr. Gerald H. Higgins, 73, passed away June 8th, at Seneca Hill Manor, Oswego, after a long affair with Parkinson’s Disease.
Jerry was owner and operator of Higgins Trailer Park.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family, with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clayton.
Jerry was born on May 11th, 1952, in Albany, the son of Harold Higgins and Marie Woods Higgins. He graduated from Cape Vincent Schools.
On February 8th, 1975, he married the former Bonnie Reff, at St. Mary’s Church in Clayton. Bonnie passed away May 11th, 2021.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force April 21st, 1976, and was honorably discharged June 12th, 1987. He then operated the park after his mother passed away, and started work at TDS Telecom in Chaumont. He then went to work on Fort Drum where he retired.
Jerry enjoyed working outside, loved animals, and really loved riding his Harley motorcycle.
Surviving is his daughter, Jennifer and husband Jared McCleese, of Orlando, Florida; one son Jeremy of Saranac Lake; two granddaughters Ava Mccleese and Dylan Higgins; sister Karen Docteur and many nieces and nephews.
Donations can be made in his name to the Jefferson County SPCA, 25056 Water St. Watertown, NY. 13601.

So sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. Martin spoke of Jerry often and did a lot of work in the park for him and the other people who had their summer homes there. Jerry will be remembered by many as he was very well known in Cape Vincent, and his family still is.
