Linda R. Veres, 61, of LaFargeville, passed away August 21st, at the Hospice of Jefferson County, with family by her side.
Born on December 24th, 1963, in Lowville, to Leslie and Sally Ann Virkler Veres, she was the youngest of six children. She attended school in Watertown and graduated from Thousand Islands High School.
Linda worked various jobs but is well known to most for being a cook at several local establishments throughout the years. She was admired for her generosity and quick-witted humor.
At home, Linda continued her love for cooking. She enjoyed sports (especially football), fishing, and playing backgammon and aggravation. She also loved dogs.
From a young age Linda was full of energy and had an adventurous spirit that could never be contained. She was never one to back down from a challenge. She could often be described as “lightning in a bottle”.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Leslie and Sally, and her brother Robert. She is survived by her two daughters, Anna of Clayton and Kiah of Florida; three grandchildren, Caiden, Peyton, and Harrison; her companion of many years Leon Jones; Four siblings, Leslie Jr. of Texas, John (Maryann) of Pennsylvania, Deborah Of Washington State, and Laurie (Melinda) of New York and Florida; several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Samaritan Medical Center, Hospice of Jefferson County, and Linda’s home health staff for their kind and loving care.
Friends and Family are invited to a Celebration of Life, September 27th, from 1-4 pm, at the Depauville Hotel located at 32506 Stephanie street, Depauville. There will be a burial for the family announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to local animal shelters in Linda’s memory.
