Cody R. Jeffries, 33, most recently of Chaumont, passed away unexpectedly on May 24 at home.
He was born on July 24th, 1992, in Watertown to Sandy and Gary Jeffries. He attended Thousand Island and LaFargeville Central schools. He spent his adult life as a dedicated builder and roofer. Most recently working with his brother for Jeffries Home Maintenance. He was also a talented woodworker who took pride in creating things with his hands.
Cody was a true River Rat wishing to spend all his time on the river or in it. He took great pride in calling the riverside home. When he wasn’t boating or fishing or sitting fireside, he was driving wheelers through mud or driving with nowhere to go and no rush to get there. Cody found the beauty in just being present.
He touched every life he encountered with a selfless love that asked for nothing in return. He instinctively helped anyone without hesitation, giving everything he had – even if it left him with nothing. No favor was ever too much. Even after a single introduction, he would remember you, welcome you, and make you feel like you belonged. He had a time in his life when he could light up any room and loved a party. At his core, he was honest and pure‐spirited, always wanting to make the people he loved proud. Everyone who met Cody – for a moment or a lifetime – was blessed.
Cody is survived by his mother Sandy Jeffries of Alexandria Bay, his father Gary Jeffries and companion Jennifer Holbrook of Malone. His grandmother Eleanor Jeffries of Fisher’s Landing. His older sisters Kellie Smith and Katie Butts and husband Cooper Butts of Elgin, South Carolina. His older brother Dustin Jeffries and fiancé Sarah Fuller of Antwerp. His brother Kaleb Jeffries and wife Amanda of Chaumont. His brother Grissom Dillon and companion Grace Wainwright. He was a loving and proud uncle to 13 nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his stepmother, Lisa Jeffries, stepfather Geoffrey Hillick and Grandfather George Jeffries.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held June 7th at the Depauville Fire
Hall from 2-6pm.
Arrangements are with the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
