Migdalia (Mickie) Lawrence, 79, passed away August 1 at Samaritan Medical Center.
Funeral service (public) will be from 11:00am until noon at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton on August 11. Burial will be private in Depauville Cemetery.
Mickie was born September 8, 1946, in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Manuel and Geralda Lopez Peraza. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, Bronx NYC.
She dedicated 27 years of service to Faichney Instrument before retiring. While the work itself was never what defined her career, it was the friendships she formed and the colleagues she worked alongside each day that made those years meaningful. She cherished the laughter, camaraderie, and connections she built, leaving behind many who were grateful to have shared that chapter of life with her.
On June 5, 1996, Mickie married Edwin Lawrence, in Watertown. Together they shared thirty wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, unwavering devotion, and countless cherished memories. They truly enjoyed one another’s company, finding joy in both life’s simple moments and their love remained a constant source of strength throughout the years.
Mickie’s faith was the foundation of her life and the compass that guided every decision she made. Her relationship with God was always her greatest priority, giving her unwavering strength, hope, and peace through every season. The legacy she leaves behind is one of steadfast faith, unconditional love, and the quiet example of a life lived with God first.
Mickie’s greatest joy was her family, and close friends. She deeply loved her children and welcomed their friends into her home as if they were her own, always offering a warm heart, a listening ear, and a place where everyone felt they belonged. She found happiness in helping others, tending to her garden, and creating treasured memories with her beloved grandchildren, whose laughter brought endless joy to her life.
Surviving besides her husband Ed, is one daughter, Bethany (Daniel) Woods of Camillus; two sons, Al Khan and his significant other Ronda Shoulski of Nanticoke, PA, and Eli Khan and his significant other Tina Marie Monica of Dexter; Children by marriage, Jess Lawrence of North Carolina, and Effee Connor of Missouri. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Yolanda (John) Sorrentino of Newburgh, NY; one brother, David (Joyce) Peraza of Lakeland, Florida; one sister in law, Wendy Peraza of Florida; one brother in law, Christian Santiago of Wallkill, NY; nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, John, Orlando, and Noel, and one sister, Esmeralda Santiago, predeceased her.
Donations can be made in her name to the LaFargeville Food Pantry.

Mickie was a good friend. She was also in my wedding. I saw her at the cancer center and she gave me a kiss on my forehead before she left. I didn’t think that was the last time I was going to see her. She is with the Lord now.
